Hatha/Vinyasa
In this traditional, gentle "slow flow" yoga class, each posture is held long enough to reap physical and energetic rewards.
Yoga for Seniors
As we age, we may begin to develop new physical, emotional, and spiritual issues. Yoga is particularly well suited to help practitioners meet the challenges of aging. This class adapts postures, meditation, chanting, and Sound Healing to the special needs of older adults, including those with physical or cognitive limitations. Remember: Nobody is "too old" or "too frail" to participate. I invite you to use your silver and golden years to increase physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
Yoga for Arthritis
In this specialized class, students will use the wall, chair, props, and appropriate modifications to facilitate safe postures for people with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, promoting pain relief, increased flexibility, and relaxation.
Gravity Yoga
Gravity Yoga is a unique targeted mobility training method that works to open up your body--specifically locked up hips, tight hamstrings, and stiff lower back. This method uses passive stretching and a specialized form of deep breathing to dramatically and quickly increase your flexibility.
Mood Yoga
Yoga is beneficial for anxiety, depression, stress, and other mood disorders. It can help students feel calmer, more relaxed, and happier in their day-to-day lives. The class emphasizes specific postures, breathing, mudras, sounds, and chanting.
Yoga for Men
Many men do not feel comfortable coming to a “mixed” yoga class. This is basic Hatha/Vinyasa class is appropriate for all levels of male students, including beginners. Attention will be paid to postures that are especially useful for men.
Meditation (classes offered on a donation basis)
Meditation is the heart of yoga and promotes calm, centeredness, and alertness. Kavannah Yoga offers meditation to everyone, regardless of religious/spiritual background and past meditation experience.
Sound Healing
This unique technique uses resonance, rhythm, and tone to deepen and promote deep relaxation and healing and enhance other yoga practices.
